The Homes in Halifax (or any town) that are in tax default and tax title do not necessarily include the homes that are nearing foreclosure……
Why you ask?…. GREAT Question
because banks/lenders that have homes that are not paying their mortgages…pay the taxes to keep their status as first lien holder. They pay the taxes so that the town doesn’t trump the bank in the order of being paid …back. So if there is nearly 170 homes in Halifax that have not paid taxes….think about the homes that you see that are empty…or not empty yet…those ones are losing the homes to the banks…
Please think of these people that will not have shelter……
Go to the Halifax Town Meeting on May 12th, 2014 at 7:30 to protect the town from greater homelessness and tragedy
